How to search for USDA eligible properties

Blog: Ask Russell

One of the more popular questions I receive is “Is this property eligible for a USDA loan?”. If you are interested in the advantages of the USDA loan, the property needs to be in an eligible area and I would suggest saving this link below as a favorite and learn to use the USDA site.

Click here to search USDA’s site for eligible properties and follow the directions below:

Under “Property Eligibility” on the left, click on “Single Family Housing”

Click “Accept”

Then you can either type in a specific address, click “get map”, to see if the property qualifies for eligibility or click on the state of NC and keep zooming in to an area to see general areas that have eligible properties. All of Pender, Brunswick Counties are eligible but for Wilmington you should use this search tool.

Please let me know if you need help on this. Most counties are eligible but when you get in cities such as Wilmington, Jacksonville, Raleigh, etc some areas are eligible and some are not.

Did you know that….USDA Guaranteed loans are not just for properties in the country next to a farm. USDA loans can go up to $417,000 at 100% financing, low pmi, and the seller can pay all of the buyer’s closing costs. You can purchase a home in the middle of Hampstead, Whiteville, Shallotte, Ocean Isle Beach, Lumberton, Lake Waccamaw, and most other towns using a USDA loan.

Thank you and I hope you find this helpful,

Russell
